Production Log Week 8

 Week 8
This week was the final week of editing and was also our deadline which was on the Thursday, so this week was mainly just to develop the feedback from our teachers to make our music video as good as possible. The main thing that me and Alysia concerntrated on was the scene of the argument because it was important that you could hear clearly what they were arguing about, so we had to find ways in which we could make the volume louder. We also decided to add some bloppers to our blog just to show how the filming went on and the behind the scenes.

This week me and Alysia uploaded our music video to youtube and uploaded our blopper video aswell. Towards the left shows two screen munches of our video's sucessfully on youtube.
What have you contributed this week?
This week I contributed in the editing of the bloppers because by this point our music video had been fully edited so we decided to make a blopper video of all the backstage stuff. This week we also both contributed into uploading the video's to youtube so that they were ready to be mark. This week I also decided to check all my recent production logs so I could edit them and make them better.
How does this fit in with the production schedule/job roles?
This fitted in well because we just needed to amke sure our work was ready to be marked and also that all of our current work for the music video assignment was up to the same grade.
Were there any problems?
Overall there was no problems because the uploading of the music video's is a very simple process.

Production Log- Week 7

Week 7 me and Alysia finished off the split screen edit, were you can see how upset Alysia is then you can see her boyfriend (Marco) who clearly does not care because you see him with another girl in the spilt screenb shot. We also finished off filming we went on Saturday to Thames Barrier to film the argument scene which we filmed. We also re-filmed some stuff for example the two shot where Alysia and Marco are seating apart on the bench, we also re-filmed the scene where Alysia and Marco are walking so that we could edit the walking making it seem like a stop animation affect. We was at the park from 12-5 making us have more time, so in the extra time me and Alysia decided to film some other shots to make the music video seem mroe interesting. So overall in this week we finished of all editing that needed to be done we also finished off all filming that needed to be done as well.
What have you contributed this week?
This week I contributed in the editing of the two different screen shots but my main job role for this week was to make sure I filmed the argument scene between Alysia and Marco and re-filmed all the old shots that did not work as well. I had to make sure I got the correct shot types to match the walking affect that had been previously been shot, I also had to make sure that when filming you could clearly hear what Alysia and Brandon was saying. I also needed to make sure that the overall the argument scene did not contain to many shot types because we wanted to focus on the actual argument which is why I chose to do a close up shot as the main shot being seen throughout the argument. I also had to make sure before filming the argument scene that Alysia and Brandon(Marco) know their lines which made the filming process much quicker. This also brings me into being the production manager because it is my job to make sure Alysia and Brandon know what they need for each shot and the script was a main aspect.
How does this fit in with the production schedule/job roles?   This fits in with our schedule because now for next week all we need to do is edit the argument scene and tidy up all the other edits making sure that they all cut to the beat and the lyrics match the lip synching, we have also left ourselves four days to tidy up the whole intire video making sure all edits are right and that you can clearly hear the argument.
Were there any problems? Overall there was not any problems the only problem we had was that me and Alysia were both not well which lead to us filming the argument scene a bit later but we still got the argument scene done. It was also hard to film during the week because of sixth form and knowing that me and Alysia do not finish the same time as our cast member Brandon who plays Marco in the music video but we solved this problem by making the meeting time for filming a bit later.
What are your plans for the following week? The plan for next week is to edit the footage of the argument scene that had just been filmed, get feedback from both teachers in ways we can improve our music video and hopefully just finish off any unedited footage and make sure the whole entire music video is done and done up to good standards.

The images below shows me the filmer recording one of the scenes of Brandon who plays Marco the boyfriend.

Production Log- Week 6

Week 6 was our first week back to sixth form from the one week half term. This week me and Alysia had to upload all of our footage we had filmed to see how it came out and see what parts we was going to use and what parts we was not going to use. This week me and Alysia decided to edit all of our footage and put it together, because we finished doing most of the basic edits we also then decided to add in some affects. The image towards the left shows that me and Alysia have almost finished editing all of our music video, all we need to do is film the argument scene.
What have you contributed this week?
This week I contributed in uploading all the footage because Alysia had to go do filming with another group, so this was the main thing I needed to make sure was done. I also had to make sure I brought in my memory card for the extra filming that Alysia and I done on my camera. Overall I did not contribute a lot because Alysia's main job was allocated as the editor which is why she edited most of the music video and I would give my idea's in and suggest where things should go because I filmed the shots and it was mainly my idea being brought to life. Alysia cut all the shots done and put it all together which meant by the end of the week we had finished putting everything together so Alysia started to put in affects. The image towards the right shows a screen grab of mine and Alysia's nearly finished music video. Alysia added in affects to created a flashback affect. I gave the idea that there should be to different scenes playing at the same time but cut into two sections so me and Alysia have been working on that also.
How does this fit in with the production schedule/job roles?
This has fitted in well with the schedule because we have finished the basic editing it helps us to have more time later on to make it much better.
Were there any problems?Overall there was not any problems, the only problem we had was because we filmed with two different camera's the quality was different and you could tell. Me and Alysia solved this problem by using less of the HD footage to avoid seeing the difference.
What are your plans for the following week?
Our Plans for next week are to finish of the split shots and put that into our music video, we also need to make sure we film the argument scene next week so we can add that into the music video. So next week our overall main plans are to finish off any filming and if needed do some re-filming. We also hope to have finish all editing finished from the week before which is the two shot screen. We hope to finish all of this so when we upload the argument scene we do not have to rush and edit other stuff we can focus on editing the argument scene.

Production Log- Week 5

Week 5 was the half term week, this week was mine and Alysia's main time to film most of what we needed. We had set ourselves Sunday,Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday to do all filming. We managed to film mostly everything apart from the main argument because of the cast members changing. In the half term me and Alysia managed to film the cafe scenes between Brandon(Amarachi) and India(The Cheater), we also filmed the seductive scenes between Brandon and Nicole(The Cheater). So mine and Alysia's main aspect was to film as much as possible in the half term and we did not do any editing due to not having the imac's.
What have you contributed this week?
This week I contributed to making sure everything was ready for filming because I was production manager it was my job to make sure we had all props so I made sure that I printed of the Photoshopped picture of Alysia and Marco. I also had to make sure that all cast members got to the set locations without any trouble and got there on time. Besides doing all this my main role was to make sure we got all shots done seeing as I done most of the filming because Alysia was in the music video herself.
When filming I made sure I took on what my teacher said about get lots of movement when filming and lots of different shot types. When filming I done lots of different angle shots on the same scene for example all the scenes of Alysia I shot the scene with high angles, low angles, close ups, straight on and so on I also used the technique shown with using movement through paneling, tilting etc.
How does this fit in with the production schedule/job roles?
This fitted in really well with the schedule because by getting nearly all the scenes filmed it would give Alysia and I more time to edit when we did get back to school. It also helped because it didn't make us fall behind, so we constantly had something to be doing later on in the week.
Were there any problems?
Overall we had many problems over our filming period because at first we had been given a camera that did not work properly. When me and Alysia started to film we realized that we could not open the flip part of the camera when filming which meant I had to always look through the lens to see what I was filming. This made it incredibly hard when filming inside because the light contrast was very dark so I could not see what I was filming. This lead to some of the shots coming out very blurry.

Changing cast members.
We also had a problem with casting, the main character 'Marco' who is the writer of the song we are using kept on cancelling dates. It was three days into the half term and we had not filmed any scenes of Marco and Alysia because Marco kept saying other plans, so I resolved this by getting a close friend of mine who looks like Marco to play him. So we got my friend Brandon and because it was so in to the half term already we did not get to film everything but done well with the time we had to film certain stuff.
We also faced another problem this problem was that our tap had ran out towards the end of the half term and we could not do no more filming, so we decided to use my camera as back up and start recording what was left on my camera. This worked out well because at least if it did not connect we would know to just re-film it which would not have taken as long as what it would have done.
What are your plans for the following week?
Our plans for the following week is to upload all footage we have done so far and try get all of the filming we have done edited so we can go and film the argument which we then can put all the footage together.
