Final Shooting Script

Below shows the final shooting script in which me and Alysia will follow when filming our music video. The shooting script is our final one with all changes made from the first draft making this shooting script more precise.

Production Log- Week 2

 Weekly Blogger Update
So this week was the second week into our music video project, which is why this week was mainly Alysia and I discussing our work amongst each other and making sure we have finished  the work that was yet to be completed.

Week two included Alysia and I getting the location owners to sign an aggreement stating that me and Alysia could use their property to film our music video. So we have both agreed that our main location would be Thames Barrier Park, Thames Barrier Cafe and my house. So what I done because I live close to the chosen locations I went down to the various locations and took some test shots, testing out were certain scences could be shot and just making sure that it would be easy to film our video without getting people in it. So I went down to the park to do some test shots, I also went to speak to one of the workers in the cafe asking for permission to film in the cafe and they seemed fine with the idea. I also had to make sure I got each location manager to sign the contract that Alysia and I wrote up. This just summed up that we want to film in their location, we had to tell them what it was for and let them know we will not get anyone else into the shots.

So my intended purpose for me going down to Thames Barrier was to get filming permission for the chosen location and also do test shots of what we would like to include into our music video. The main reason we took test shots was to see if the location was good for the video, if it was good, thinking about did it make sense to the storyline. Overall the intended location goes really well with the storyline, especially cause the storyline is about a young relationship and many young teenagers like to hang around in the mark with their friends etc.
The image towards the left shows Thames Barrier park and it shows that it is a typical park that young people would go to and mess about with their friends which is why me and Alysia chose this location, to almost make our story seem typical.
We also planned and wrote up our shooting script for the music video helping us be more organised. The shooting script involves the shot number, the location that the shot would be filmed in, the shot type we would be using, the shot angle and the movement of the camera. We also had to write down what lyrics of the song would tie in with with what shots. Then we had to say who would be in what shot and if there will be any props in the scene.

What have you contributed this week?
This week I checked the form for permission made by Alysia and just made it more formal. I also went to the locations and took the test photo's and got the permission from each location making sure it is alright for me and Alysia to record our music video.

How does this fit in with the production schedule/job roles?
This ties in with the production schedule because we need the permission from each location before we go film anything, so that was an important part of our schedule. The shooting script also fits in with the production schedule because if we did not have our shooting script done we would not be able to film because the shooting script shows us everything we need to film.

Were there any problems?
Overall the only problem we received was being able to do the shooting script because we needed to do it together which meant we had to find time when we was both free to do it and the over problem was that we did not do the shooting script to our fullest potential leaving the camera angle and movement to its basic.
How did you overcome them?
We overcame these two problems by always keeping in contact making sure whenever we both had a free period we would sit down and do it together. The other problem we resolved was by doing a draft one of our shooting script which we could show the teacher and get feedback and the main feedback was about the camera movement which then got explained to us so we could understand how we could use different camera movements but still make it look affective.

What are your plans for the following week?
Our main plan for next week is to make sure all of our work is on our blog before the deadline and making sure all of our work is up to good standards. Week 3 would also be the week that we plan when we will be filming, so it going to be all the planning upto the filming process.

Job Roles & Responsibilties

Job Roles & Responsibilies
For the course of the music video filming me and my partner Alysia have allocated specific jobs for each of us Theses job roles are: Camera Operator, Editor, Director, Production manager and Make-up Artist.
Alysia
The main roles that Alysia will undertake will be the Camera Operator and editor. We have allocated with these job roles because they suit her more rather than me because she understands the camera more than me and has had more experience with editing software than I have.

We have chosen Alysia to be the Editor mainly because she knows and understands the software much more than I do and because she has done media before she
knows what to do and how to stick to the overall plan. She is very reliable and will make the music video flow and make sure it has clear cuts which will overall go with the beat. She was also chosen as Camera Operator because she has also worked with the cameras we will be using, which leads onto her having the technical knowledge of how they work. She is also well experienced with knowing the camera language and what will look good. She will also be cast in the video, allowing me to take over filming when she is in the shots.
Pre-Production: Alysia is the editor and Camera Operator so for the pre-production Alysia will make sure we have the camera and it is working properly and it is not faulty. She will also make sure for the pre-production that she checks the editing software we will be using making sure she understand how it works which hopefully make our music video the best it can be.
Production: Throughout the production Alysia will either be filming the scenes or making sure I understand how to use the camera when I am filming her scenes. She will also be making sure that all of our work gets uploaded onto the editing software before the deadline for filming.
Post-Production: Alysia will make sure that the media department get their cameras back and in good condition.

Morgan
My main job roles will be; main director and production manager. These job roles have been specifically chosen for me because I have a clear vision of what I want done and I am good with making sure things get done and get done up to high expectations.

We have decided to make me the Director as the main idea was my idea to begin with, so I will know exactly what I want. I am also very bossy and have clear visions of how I want the music video to look which leads to me making sure everything is perfect. I know specifically how I want it to look, what goes where and who is in which part and what they are doing. I am also use to being the leader of projects and I believe I will not settle for okay, I will always make sure my work looks good technically and creatively. I have a high demand of getting things done so I will be making sure everything is done.
I am also very committed to my work making sure I always turn up on time with all the equipment and having clear knowledge of shots I would like to portray that day. I will also be the Production Manager, meaning that I will be in charge of the budget and the production scheduling, making sure everyone we need for the shots is covered and with us. I will also be in charge of making sure people are wearing the correct costumes and making sure the make-up is done to my satisfaction. We feel this was a good decision to make me the production manager, once again because I know how I want the actors/actresses to look and dress, as well as knowing what is in the budget and what we are going to need to spend on what during the production.
As we will need make up and costume put on the cast, we have allocated this job role to me mainly being because I know what I want my cast members to look like and also Alysia will be one of the cast members I will be styling.
Pre-Production: For the pre-production as director I will make sure all of my concepts I want to cover are written down before the actual filming also as Director it is up to me to make sure venues are allowed to be used. As the production manager I will make sure I have all props before the filming date and it is also my responsibility that the cast members know when they are needed.
Production: During production I will make sure that as director that all the shots have been done and that we have covered everything we need to do that day. I also have the job of making sure during the production period that my cast are okay and are turning up to meeting points on time and know what they are doing beforehand making the day run more smoothly. I will also be in charge of budget so during the production period if any of my cast members are cold I will need to make sure I provide them with warm refreshments but staying within the budget.
Post-Production: Once the filming has all been done it is my job to make sure when the filming work is all uploaded that I look to make sure everything has been filmed before the deadline, so if we need we can film the extra bits. It will also be my responsibility to give back all the props we borrowed and making sure they are still in the same condition to when we got them.

Location Reccies

Apart of the music video planning included going down to our chosen location and doing some test shots to make sure the locations are appropriate for our music and just making sure overall the location is safe and easy to get to.
So our chosen locations are Thames barrier park and my house which would be used for the bedroom and living room. We chose these two locations mainly because they make sense with the story line being about cheating and relating mainly to the younger generation and most young people are seen in the park messing about or at home in their bedrooms.

So over the weekend I went to take some test photo's of the chosen locations, the main reason for me taking test shots was to see how the music video would come out and also to help picture different area's within the location. Me and Alysia thought these locations would be good for lighting as you can see clearly that in most of the shots taken by me that the sun shines through which is good because it relates to the happiness of the relationship.
The shot towards the right shows one of mine and Alysia's ideas in visual because we want to take a shot like this of the girlfriend showing the different emotions the girlfriend is feeling for example hurt, anger, upset etc. We hope to use paneling in this shot.

The shot to the left also shows one of the other area' s within the park were me and Alysia will be filming because it has a nice scene to it and can help show the relationship bond when the couple are hugging looking over the bridge. This shot shows were we would like to show the viewers a young happy couple in love and because it towards the sun it gives more light which suggests happiness rather than it being dark.

The shot towards the right shows a pathway
in which seems very closed in which is why we have chosen this area to be apart of our music video, this area goes really well with the idea of showing the different types of emotions. Paths are good ways in which we can get across to the audience the different moods of the different characters because the path is so closed in it makes the actor/actress more visible making them the subject and not the scenery. The path can help show facial expressions, body language and the relationship from character to character. Underneath is many pictures I took of the possible locations we could use and under each picture is a description explaining when we would use the shot and how we would use it.

All of these shots to the left an the right are what me and Alysia will be working with in our music video.

Risk Assessment

Alysia and I had to make a checklist of a risk assessment, this is to make sure wherever we are filming that it is totally safe for our cast to be around. We also had to take into account that when filming we cannot get others into our video for example little children playing in the park. The risk assessment has helped me and Alysia understand that we need to be careful were we are filming for example the park alone has many risks for examples the tree's, children and the bridges. We have taken in all of the risks that come with filming in the park as well as the house. Underneath shows a clear picture of mine and Alysia's risk assessment, the risk assessment is shown in stages of low, med and high which indicates how much of a risk the following things could be when filming.

Shooting Script Draft One

Underneath shows mine and Alysia's first draft of our shooting script, the shooting script is to help plan out our entire music video from shot to shot, this will help us when filming because it has every shot we need to film and also all the different scenes. Our shooting script shows the different locations in different colour's and it also is a guide when filming so we do not forgot to film anything. So underneath is mine and Alysia's shooting script.

Production Schedule

Underneath shows mine and Alysia's production schedule, we had to make a production schedule so we know what we need to do and when we need to do it, this schedule helps us make sure we get all our scenes filmed and to a high standard. In our production schedule we have shown clearly when we are filming so we can tell our cast members in advance of when we will need them, our schedule also shows us days in which we need to get certain things done for example the editing of the song. So underneath is mine and Alysia's production schedule for the making of Main Girl by Amarachi.

Call Sheets

Underneath shows the call sheets Alysia and I put together to note what locations we would be at what days and what cast members we need for each different location. We needed call sheets just to make our overall filming time more organised. The call sheets also help make me and Alysia more organised knowing when we need what cast members each day and what time and where. The call sheets are important because Alysia and I can always refer back to them to make sure we are on schedule with what we need to film.

Wavier for Cast

This is a consent form made by Alysia and I stating the circumstances and asking for the cast members to sign in agreement that they will be in our music video and follow the rules and regulations. The form underneath shows the consent form without the signed permission.

Open publication - Free publishing - More consesnt form

The images to the right of the blog post show the cast members have signed the agreement to be apart of our music video. By them signing the agreement they have to make sure they always come to every shooting day and on time, always be prepared to do anything and also that they can not give any idea's in.

Permission To Film

Filming Permission: Thames Barrier(Park & Cafe) and A house.
Thames Barrier Park
Once me and my partner Alysia came to a decision on where we wanted to film our music video we needed to get the permission of each owner of the properties/location. So together we made a consent form about filming permission. The form basically consisted of us asking if we could have permission to film in our chosen locations but it also shows that we have to agree that we will not cause any disruptions or mess. Once we made the consent form I went down to our chosen locations and asked for them to sign in agreement that we can film. Firstly I had to ask my mym to sign the form because she is the owner of the house we will be using and I also had to get the park care taker to fill in the form for the park Thames Barrier and also the cafe location.
Thames Barrier Cafe

So we decided to have three main settings which are Thames Barrier(Park), A Cafe and A house. Within all these locations there are many different places were we will be filming for instants in the house we will be filming in the bedroom and living room and in the park there are many different area's that we will be filming in which will be shown in my location reciess.

Bedroom.
The last location is the house, we will be mainly filming in the bedroom which would be the girlfriends bedroom. The picture to the left shows the bedroom we will use. Underneath is a consent form made by Alysia and I again to get the locations owners consent and permission to use their property (The house, Cafe and Park)The consent form is to show you what had been written on it.

Underneath shows the form that Alysia and I had made an towards the right shows the copy of the form that has been signed by all owners of each property or location.

Mine and Alysia's Rationale Video

Production Log- Week 1

Weekly Blogger Update
Seeing as This week was mainly about the planning and choosing who we wanted to work with we did not have much to do. So this week I decided who I wanted to work with which was Alysia. So I chose to work with Alysia because we had the same idea's and I felt if I Worked with her we could combine each others idea's making our overall music video much stronger.
We both had the same idea of relationships that do not work and because my presentation was much stronger we decided to use my overall idea concept but added in some aspects from Alysia's idea. These were to add at the end the boyfriend calling the girlfriend and seeing her not answer the phone; this is to show the girlfriend has moved on and she can not be bothered to be with her boyfriend any more.
Seeing as this is only week one I have not contributed alot because it was all about picking partners and watching the rest of the pitches. So my main role over the week one time period was to watch pupils pitches and give positive and negative feedback on their presentation skills, overall idea and give feedback on the idea, i.e was the idea affective, will it work.

By me working with Alysia fits into the production because we are both very creative and we both came to an agreement that we would make Alysia one of the cast members being the girlfriend who gets cheated on.

Once me and Alysia decided to work together we set certain roles and responsibility  for each other, these were; that we would use my song but incorporate both idea's. We also decided that I will be the director(making sure the shots and the overall filming is done to high standards, I will also do most of the filming because Alysia will be playing one of the roles in the video, we also decided Alysia will assist in filming and will be the main editor. We mainly decided to give these specific roles to each other because Alysia has very good experience in editing and understand how to use imovie, which is the software we will be using. The main reason we made me the main director is because I selected where we should film, what we should film and also how we will film it making is suitable to make me director because I know how I want the end product to look.

Our overall idea's for our music video is to make it narrative and go with my concept of the cheating, this was that the boyfriend would be cheating on his girlfriend with main other girls because the lyrics 'main girl' see to make the listener feel like the artist is saying although he is cheating, his girlfriend is the 'main girl'.

We also included Alysia's idea's which were; at the end you see the boyfriend calling his girlfriend and she busy's it which shows the audience she is finished with him. We didn't need to chose location because we both wanted to film in a park, bedroom and resturant so we decided to film at Thames Barrier Park, my bedroom and either the cafe in the park or a resturant.
There was no problems with deciding who's idea's to use because we are incorporating both idea's the only thing that could be an issue in future reference is that me an Alysia have not worked together. We overcame this issue by exchanging numbers and consantly talking to eachother making us understand how each other work.
Our Plans for next week would be to upload our video blog which is just a short video of us talking about why we decided to work with each other and our idea's. We will also have our permission for all locations by then and should have gone to the locations to make sure it is suitable for filming, making sure there is not to many people ect.
Overall as a group I don't think we will face any main challanges only that we haven't worked together before which I brought up already.

Music Video Pitch Feedback

My presentation feedback:
My overall presentation seemed okay; I tried to interact with everyone more than just reading from the board because if I chose to just read from the board my presentation could get marked down because of lack of communication skills with the audience. However after looking back at my presentation I feel like I did not conduct myself in the appropriate way; I came across as very jokey (unprofessional) which is the incorrect way I should conduct myself to the audience.
Overall my presentation seemed okay you could clearly see the text which is the main aspect for the audience to see clearly and be able to listen to what I am saying but also to be able to read the text from the board.
I also contained lots of images within my presentation to make it seem catchier rather than boring with just text however the purpose of lots of pictures worked but I still had a lot of text overall making my presentation seem long and boring. I believe because my presentation contained a lot of writing it made my audience bored which lead me talking for 20mins.
So overall I feel my presentation went well, I did not miss out any points or information that needed to be provided.
Feedback:
My target audience mainly said positive things towards my presentation skills and my overall use of examples and text, saying that I covered all the main points that needed to be explained. They said they liked the way every time I would talk about one of my idea’s I would back it up with either a picture to set image in the viewer’s mind or show a YouTube clip making my audience understand where I’m going with my idea’s. I also got good feedback about my music video idea saying that the whole concept seems very visual and shows that I know exactly what I want to do making my video presentation seem more convincing. The last bit of feedback I received from my audience was that it seems like I have a lot of different and creative idea’s but it is not clear where they would be. This was negative because it made me look unorganised.
Area's I would have liked to of given in more detail:
Looking back at my music video presentation I would have liked to give more detail in the actual storyline and how the scenes would have set the mood and tone of the different shots. I could have done this through explaining each scene and clarifying what will happen in each scene and why it will happen. I would have also liked to been able to explain more about the argument scene and how it will tie in with the whole video because I don’t think the audience understood it completely. If I could change anything to make my presentation better I would have taking out a lot of the texts and just made it look more presentable rather than essay type with loads of writing.
Audience identified as strength:
The audience identified as my main strength that my overall presentation was very detail and that I mostly related my idea's to links of videos so the audience could understand what I was talking about.
Areas for improvement: My main area for improvement that I picked up from my audiences feedback was although I knew were all my ideas were going they could not understand which leads to it being practical. The overall area for improvement was me giving all my idea's making the video seem like it would go from idea to idea without flowing.
Changes that I will make: my overall changes that I would make after listening to my feedback is to make sure if I use all my idea's that they can't just be placed anywhere in the video, so I need to think long and hard about combining my idea's together unless I scrap some of my idea's.
